Sunday morning sunrise... last day at Rock Lake... John's collection gets a little
bigger each year... no mistaking which are
his rockets though... Jason working on one
of his airframes... with the remains of his rocket that kato'd
at launch the day before... the Rocket cam... on its first flight of the day... on a "G" motor, which
gives it quite a loft... it landed to the north... Madison with a rather
short entry... and Maddy with a somewhat
longer one... Richard's rocket weighing in... Rock Lake XVII... Rock Lake XVII... Rocket cam... nice soft landing... turning off the camera... Rock Lake XVII... Maddy's rocket on the pad... ignition... and a beautiful flight... under clear blue skies.. second flight of the
Rocket cam... away it goes... on a "G" motor... however this time, it lands a
kilometer to the south... the three chutes proved to stabilize the descent somewhat
better than the previous single chute system,
but it could still be improved... perhaps with a longer lead from the
nosecone to the lower section... Richard and his son on a long
walk to find their rocket... Jason's "K" hybrid motor on the pad... ignition... liftoff... on a fast... and long burning flight... to well over 10,000 ft... still under thrust... sometime later,
a chute appeared... with the rocket descending
on a long tether... to a soft nearby landing... the grand finale for Rock Lake XVII,
last flight of the day... ignition... of a high altitude airframe... with a long burn motor... on a beautiful flight... into the distant heavens... where unfortunately, it went out of sight,
and was not seen again... cleaning up... thanks to the Lethbridge Rocketry
Club for hosting the event... Rock Lake XVII... Sweetgrass Hills.
