Haida Gwaii B.C. June 2012 - Background
Background to our trip to Haida Gwaii.
For many years, we have both had a fascination with the Queen Charlotte Islands, although neither of us knew of the others interest... that was at least until last February, when a poster advertising a taichi workshop in Haida Gwaii went up at our club.
Our reaction was spontaneous and immediate, the opportunity too good to pass up. We would attend the workshop and see these mysterious islands for ourselves. So plans were made, and we extended our stay to a week so we could explore as much of the islands as time permitted. The workshop was only one day, with an adventure tour led by our gracious hosts for the second day.
The impression the islands left with us has been a lasting one, and it wasn't just the scenery or the peaceful nature of the island, it was formed by the people we met while we were there. We felt warm-hearted hospitality from everyone we met and were so graciously looked after by all our hosts.
Thank you Queen Charlotte's and the Haida Gwaii, and especially Benita, Beatie and Doug for making this all too brief trip such a memorable one.
